Our Story
It all started during my computer science studies when I became fascinated by 3D printing – a childhood dream of mine to create something new and of my own suddenly became tangible. 3D printing allowed me to bring my ideas to life and create exactly what I needed. But soon the thought grew in me: if it helps me, it will help others too. That was the moment when the desire arose to share and sell my creations.
Initially, everything began without a fixed plan. I opened an Etsy shop that combined my first own implementations, decorative items, functional parts, and already initial board game upgrades – in other words, all sorts of things. But soon a focus emerged: decorative items and gifts. Nevertheless, my passion for board games never left me, and I wanted to continue offering innovative board game upgrades. And that's how BoardGamesBase came to be.
Under this name, I first opened an Etsy shop specializing in board game upgrades in the form of inserts and upgrade tokens. I put all my efforts into developing new products – and demand quickly exceeded my expectations. The feedback from happy customers confirmed my passion and ignited even more fire in me. This fire spread to my partner Jasmin, who shares the same hobby and actively supports me. For this, I am infinitely grateful to her and look forward to living this adventure together with her.
Soon it became clear to me that we needed our own webshop to realize our visions. The long and generic name could no longer do us justice. I set out to find a new name that suited us and our values – and so Prinsert was born: short, crisp, and modern. With this name, we opened our webshop and can now freely and lovingly design our products.
We are still young and just starting out. But our ideas are limitless, and every month new fantastic board games come onto the market, just waiting for our Prinsert upgrades. We look forward to the coming years and want to offer you only the best products – so that your gaming experience becomes even better.
Our small, growing manufactory
It all started with an entry-level 3D printer, which, with a bit of love and dedication, delivered surprisingly good results. But that was also the problem: the printer regularly required maintenance and repairs to maintain quality. Back then, that was still part of the hobby – 3D printing and repairing and upgrading printers were an exciting challenge for me. I tested various models and before I knew it, I owned seven 3D printers – and not even all from the same manufacturer! I bought defective printers, repaired them, used them for a while, and eventually sold them to make space for the next model.
But eventually, it all became too much for me. The repairs, the time loss, and the costs had taken their toll. In addition, I increasingly dedicated myself to developing my own products and my business, which took up most of my time. So I began to gradually replace the printers with better models – starting with the Prusa MK3S+, a printer that dominated the market for a long time and worked perfectly from the start. It printed reliably and didn't need regular repairs – and still prints many of our products today.
I sold the other printers and kept only three machines that offered sufficient quality. Then a new manufacturer appeared on the scene who really shook up the market. I acquired a printer from this manufacturer and was immediately enthusiastic: the quality was excellent and the printer was three times faster than the others. It could even print in multiple colors without any manual intervention. This opened up completely new possibilities – and thanks to the significantly shorter printing time, I could process orders quickly while simultaneously developing new products.
With this new speed, the business picked up momentum and more printers were needed to meet the increasing demand. Today, our manufactory comprises seven state-of-the-art 3D printers. This allows us to fulfill your orders within a few days, even during peak times. To become even more efficient, we rely on two printers that automatically change their print plates once a print is complete. This eliminates setup times and allows us to produce even faster.
But for us, efficiency doesn't stop at 3D printing. Outside of the printing process, we are constantly looking for ways to optimize our daily work – be it through an automatic tape dispenser or customized software that manages our print jobs and helps us keep track. This allows us to focus on the essentials and have more time for developing new products.
These subtleties and details are also incorporated into our products – and make them so special. Everything we do aims to offer you the best and most functional products that enhance your gaming experience – with the same attention to detail that we put into our manufactory.
